What a great week we have had this week! On Monday at 1:00 We had a party for the three couples that are leaving this month. President And Sister Howard who have been our Temple President. They have been here for three years. They will be leaving the end of this month. The Peterson’s last Temple day was on Thursday, they are traveling for a week and will come back to get their things and then leave for home. The Lyman’s are leaving on the 23rd of this month.
They are going to Italy for two weeks and then back to Barcelona to catch a cruise ship to go home. The Peterson’s took us shopping when we first arrived and helped to orient us. The Lyman’s are a great couple as well. She is the one who decorates for every social and has more talent in her little finger then I have in my entire body! They go back to Arizona and the Peterson’s go back to California. We had a progressive dinner for them. 
We were one of the hosting couples so we stayed in our apartment and they all came to us.
It was a lot of fun and at the end we met in the foyer and had our dessert together. 
They had all three couples talk and it was very emotional. We love the spirit that they have brought to the Mission. We were on the Morning shift this past week. When we arrived home on Tuesday afternoon we looked on the email and Kristy had left a message saying that at 12:40 am they were leaving for the hospital and that she hoped it wasn’t a false alarm and that they would keep us posted. It was 2:30 pm our time when we got the message and she had not sent another one which it was 6:30 am their time. So we immediately called Miles cell phone and got the answering machine. So we called their home and talked to Scott & Malia who were there with the kids. As we were talking a call came in from Jordan Valley hospital so we hung up and called back. They had called to say that they were coming back home and that they were just waiting for the nurse to come in and check them out. So we were disappointed for them because thy had spent the night there. We went to the store and to dinner with Heidi and Gil Bowden who had come here for their visa’s and then we came back to our apartment to wait until they had to leave to go to the airport. The phone rang at 6:30 pm our time and it was Miles saying that Phoebe had arrived at 9:48 am their time weighing 7lbs. 5 ozs. and was 19 inches long!
She is beautiful and looks a lot like the boys did at birth. How grateful we are for her safe arrival and her sweet spirit. Her full name is Phoebe Lu Rae (LuRae after grandma Pearson). Tom had a feeling that grandma had held her before she came. We love you little Phoebe. On Thursday evening we decided to go see some Flamenco dancers. That is some of us did.
Dad had see a show when he been here years ago with the guard and said it was just a bunch of older women and that it wasn’t that great. 
(This is an older couple dancing) I went with two other couples and Sister Linares. The show did not start until 10:30 at night which isn’t surprising for things in Spain, the people here tend to be night life people. Most of them don’t even eat dinner until 8 or 9:00 pm. These definitely were not old ladies! There were 4 girls and 2 guys. 
It was great! Tom missed out! We stayed till 12:00pm and then left. It was not over but we had to go to catch the metro home. Then I had to get up at 6:00 the next morning for the temple but it was worth it.Yesterday was the “Walk to Remember” that we have attended once a year since little Ryan had been born. We wish we could have been there but hope they know we were there in spirit.
The Jensen’s and Amanda and Ethan were able to support the walk this year.
It looked like they had a great time and the weather appeared to be clear but cold (they had snow earlier in the morning).We had President F. Burton Howard and his wife Caroline to dinner today.
We had a great visit. He was called to the Quorum of the Seventy in the church when there were only about 36 brethren in the Quorum. He is now emeritus, following 27 years service. He was released in October 2005 from the Seventy and was called to be the Temple President right after so he did not get a rest from his service. He has had so many experiences and positions with his call. It was great to ask him questions and hear about some of the things he has done, one of which was to search for and then accompany President Hinckley when he selected the property in Rome for the newly announced Temple.

What a great week filled with lots of excitement and special events. The greatest happening being the birth of Phoebe. How we wish we could have been there. But how grateful we are for her arrival and for her and Kristy’s health and strength. Each of our grandchildren are so special to us and each has their own little personality and spirit. We are grateful for the way they are being raised with such love, concern and care. Thanks for your love and for sharing this special experience with us. We love you all, Mom and Dad
