Another week flew by! We started the different shift this week and survived! The Missionaries on that shift are great too, it’s just always hard to have change. The Portuguese people were here all week and very faithful as usual. They take full advantage of every session they can go on and initiatory and sealings. One sister had braces on her legs and walked with crutches. She was only about four ft. tall and she kept right up with all of the rest of the people. She had a smile about a mile wide which was so contagious! She also did some initiatories which she hadn’t done in 20 years. What an inspiration she was to all she came in contact with in the Temple.
We have had a few colder days and a storm or two but for the most part it has been very pleasant. The people who live here think that it is already cold and they are wearing their winter coats!
Boy was it good! We were the only ones there, but of course it was early, about 5:00 pm when most of the natives don’t eat dinner until 8 or 9:00 pm! We had a great time it was kind of sad to say goodbye to the Lyman’s. We will definitely be going there (Pizza Hut) again.On Friday we visited with Elyse Montero from Portugal. She is extremely short as you can see in the picture. There are a lot of short people here in Spain, we sometimes feel like the jolly green giants around them!
Any way we visited with her and she is quite the little ball of fire and very sarcastic! She has been coming to the Temple quite often since it has been open. She has seen many Missionary couples come and go. She lives right outside of Lisbon. She is a Temple worker and we enjoy working with her when she comes.
Today we were going to have Linda Lovera from Venezuela to dinner. I also invited another girl who lives in our ward who has been so sweet and friendly to us since we got here. Her name is Karin and she is from Brazil. 
She is here going to school and has been here since February. We have a lot of cute single girls in our ward, I wish we could line them all up! Linda didn’t come to church so we were unable to connect with her so we will have to try again.
About a month ago Tom bought an apron for Sunday’s so that he doesn’t spill on himself. 
(vive el Matador) Because he wears the apron most of the company that comes over to dinner think that he has done all of the cooking! Which he does do a fair amount, but not all! So I decided to get an apron also not to be outdone by him. Of course you will notice that they are cougar blue not the traditional red! We still have a lot more people we want to have to dinner so the aprons will have good use!
This coming Thursday they will be having an Open House for President and Sister Howard in the Temple cafeteria for all to come and wish them well and thank them for their service.
I can’t believe that Halloween is next week. We have seen some costumes and some pumpkins but I don’t think it is a big of a deal here. We know we have some grandkids who are all super excited for Halloween! Our kids will remember going trick or treating with Dad. You guys would be cold and ready to go home but Dad would make you stay out a little longer to get more treats! We would love to get pictures of the kids in their costumes and even you big kids who dress up.
We appreciate so much the opportunity to communicate with all of you. Senior Missionaries definitely have an advantage in that area. Thanks for your care and concern for us. We are well aware of each and everyone one of you and pray for you all. We know that God hears and answers your prayers as well as ours. We have such a deep appreciation for family and find great joy in the knowledge that we can be together forever if we all do our part. You are our most prized possession.. Love to all of you.
